TDS COMPETITION 2026: FERWAFA REINFORCES PREPARATIONS, TEAMS URGED TO GET READY
The Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) held an important preparatory meeting for the TDS 2026 competition, bringing together representatives of all participating teams. The meeting took place at the association’s headquarters in Remera and aimed at streamlining and coordinating preparations for this highly anticipated tournament.
The TDS competition is organized in partnership with FIFA through its Talent Development Scheme, a program designed to nurture and develop young football talents.
CLARIFYING REGULATIONS AND COMPETITION FORMAT
Among the key issues discussed were the regulations that will govern the tournament, the match format, and the competition schedule. Team representatives were briefed on how matches will be conducted, how points will be calculated, and the principles to be respected to ensure the competition runs smoothly and transparently.
FERWAFA emphasized that respecting the rules is the foundation of sustainable football development, especially in youth categories.
REFEREEING AND PREPARATION OF MATCH OFFICIALS
Another important topic addressed was refereeing. Explanations were provided on how referees will be selected and the training they will undergo before the tournament kicks off. The leadership highlighted the goal of ensuring professional and impartial officiating that will enhance the overall quality of the competition.
SUPPORT FOR PARTICIPATING TEAMS
In an effort to support the teams, details were shared regarding financial assistance to help cover transportation, training, and equipment expenses. This demonstrates a commitment to developing talent from an early stage, regardless of a team’s financial capacity.
ANOTHER STEP FORWARD IN YOUTH FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT IN RWANDA
After clarifying all operational and technical aspects, FERWAFA’s leadership expressed confidence that the TDS 2026 competition will serve as a platform to showcase emerging talents who could become top players in the future.
The Talent Development Scheme aims to establish a strong foundation for youth football development by identifying, training, and monitoring young talents at an early age.
Participants concluded the meeting by committing to close collaboration with the federation to ensure that the competition, scheduled to kick off on March 7, runs smoothly and delivers meaningful results.
As preparations intensify, football fans eagerly await the TDS 2026 competition, which marks another significant step in building the future of football in Rwanda.
