Kanyamihigo Callixte, popularly known among women’s football fans as Kazungu, has officially been unveiled as a new player for Police Women Football Club (Police WFC), following her departure from AS Kigali WFC, a team she had served for many years.
Kazungu was one of the key players at AS Kigali WFC, where she became well known for her experience, dedication, and technical ability on the pitch. During her time with the capital city based club, she played a significant role in helping AS Kigali WFC perform strongly in various women’s league competitions, becoming one of the players who built the team’s reputation.
This experienced footballer has now decided to begin a new chapter in her career by joining Police WFC, one of the teams steadily strengthening itself and investing in the development of women’s football in Rwanda. Police WFC views the acquisition of Kazungu as a major step toward adding experience and competitiveness to its squad.
Football analysts believe that Kazungu’s transfer will greatly benefit Police WFC, particularly due to her vast experience and her ability to support teammates both on and off the field. They also believe she will serve as a positive role model for the younger players in the team.
On the side of AS Kigali WFC, although losing a player like Kazungu is a significant setback, the club’s management and supporters highly appreciate her contribution during her time with the team. They wish her success in her new journey at Police WFC, while AS Kigali WFC continues to prepare for the future by relying on new players and a project aimed at remaining competitive at the highest level.
This move is one of the notable changes currently taking place in Rwandan women’s football, as players continue to seek new opportunities that help them grow and improve their level.
