HEROES ON AND OFF THE PITCH: APR WVC WRITES A NEW CHAPTER IN HISTORY
Heroes Day Marked by a Major Victory
On Rwanda’s Heroes Day, when all Rwandans commemorate the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience that have defined the nation’s heroes, those values were once again reflected this time on the court at Petit Stade where the players of APR Women Volleyball Club proved that heroism is not just words, but action.
In the final of the Heroes Volleyball Tournament 2026, APR WVC defeated POLICE WVC by 3 sets to 2 in a fiercely contested match filled with intense rivalry, determination, and an unbreakable fighting spirit that lasted until the final set.
APR started the match strongly, winning the first set 25–21, showing confidence and a clear desire to lift the trophy. However, POLICE WVC refused to back down and bounced back in the second set, winning 25–14 and restoring their momentum.
APR once again displayed courage in the third set, taking it 25–18, but POLICE WVC responded with equal determination, winning the fourth set 25–21, forcing the match into a decisive final set.
The fifth set became a true lesson in bravery. APR VC players showed remarkable mental strength and resilience, fighting for every ball and defending both their team’s name and the pride of the nation. With a 15–12 victory, APR VC sealed the match, emerging as heroes on the court and delighting volleyball fans and Rwandans who had gathered to celebrate this special day.
Heroism Is Not a Weapon, It Is a Spirit
This victory symbolized how the heroism taught by Rwanda’s national heroes continues to live on in today’s youth, especially through sports. APR WVC demonstrated that winning requires sacrifice, teamwork, and belief even when circumstances seem difficult.
The match served as a powerful lesson for volleyball fans and young people alike: today’s heroes are those who pursue their goals fearlessly and fight until the very end.
