🏆 RAYON SPORTS WFC LIFT THE 2026 HEROES CUP AFTER BEATING INDAHANGARWA WFC 2–0

In the final of the 2026 Heroes Cup in the women’s category, Rayon Sports WFC faced Indahangarwa WFC in a highly anticipated match. The game started with both teams evenly matched, cautiously sizing each other up, with each side putting strong emphasis on defense.

The first half ended in a 0–0 draw, despite a few chances on both sides. However, goalkeepers and defenders performed well, keeping their goals intact.

Rayon Sports WFC returned stronger in the second half

The second half began with major changes from Rayon Sports WFC, who showed clear determination to score and reclaim the trophy they had won the previous year. The team came back onto the pitch with one clear objective: to win and lift the cup.

In the 55th minute, Emeline Mukagatete opened the scoring with a well taken goal following an excellent attacking move by Rayon Sports WFC, sending their fans into wild celebrations.

Just a few minutes later, in the 62nd minute, Angelique Umuhoza scored the second goal, effectively crushing Indahangarwa WFC’s hopes and confirming Rayon Sports WFC’s determination to finish the job. From that point on, Indahangarwa WFC tried to fight back, but Rayon Sports WFC’s defense proved too solid.

The match ended with Rayon Sports WFC defeating Indahangarwa WFC 2–0, thereby winning the 2026 Heroes Cup in the women’s category.

Rayon Sports WFC praised for an impressive victory

After the match, club officials and fans warmly praised Rayon Sports WFC for the commitment and fighting spirit they displayed. They congratulated the team for winning the #HeroesCup2026, noting that it is indeed one of the strongest women’s football teams in Rwanda.

Coach Rwaka Claude: “We came determined to win the trophy”

Speaking after the match, Rayon Sports WFC head coach Rwaka Claude said the victory was no coincidence:

> “We had the Heroes Cup last year, and this year we wanted it again because our goal was to defend it. Indahangarwa WFC is not a new team to us; we had played them twice before, so we were well prepared and understood how they play. We came with the objective of winning.”

He went on to outline the team’s ambitions in the league:

> “At the moment we are in second place, with Police WFC ahead of us, but we are ready for everything. Our goal is to return to CECAFA, and to get there, we must win the league title.”

This victory further demonstrates that Rayon Sports WFC is a team with a clear vision, strong leadership, and players driven by hunger for success, committed to representing women’s football at both national and regional levels.
