On Matchday 14 of the Rwanda Women’s Football League, a highly anticipated clash brought together hosts Forever WFC and Rayon Sport WFC. It was a match marked by great intensity, high energy, and attractive football, but in the end, Rayon Sport WFC showcased their experience and attacking power, defeating Forever WFC by four goals to one.
Both teams started the match cautiously, each trying to assess the other’s strengths. Playing at home, Forever WFC attempted to push forward early in search of an opening goal, while Rayon Sport WFC made it clear they had not come just to make up the numbers.
Rayon Sport WFC broke the deadlock in the 30th minute through Ukwinkunda Jeannette, who capitalized on a well delivered ball inside the penalty area and calmly placed it into the back of the net.
After conceding, Forever WFC did not lose confidence and continued to attack in search of an equalizer. Their efforts paid off in the 43rd minute when Ishimwe Darlene scored a powerful goal, sending the home fans into celebration and restoring hope. The first half ended with both teams level at 1–1.
Rayon Sport WFC returned for the second half with renewed determination. Just one minute after the restart, in the 46th minute, Gikundiro Scholastique struck the second goal for Rayon Sport WFC, exposing defensive weaknesses in the Forever WFC back line.
She was not done yet. In the 54th minute, Gikundiro Scholastique once again found the net, scoring Rayon Sport WFC’s third goal and completely shifting the momentum of the match, as the visitors took full control of the game.
Forever WFC attempted to fight back, but Rayon Sport WFC remained solid both in midfield and defense. In the 62nd minute, Ihirwe Regine scored the fourth goal, sealing an emphatic victory for the Blue and White side.
After that goal, the pace of the match slowed, although Forever WFC continued to search for a consolation goal. However, their efforts were thwarted by the resilience and discipline of the Rayon Sport WFC players.
Rayon Sport WFC confirm their status among league’s strongest teams
The match ended with a 4–1 victory for Rayon Sport WFC, a result that underlines their ambition and consistency in the Women’s League title race. Despite the defeat, Forever WFC showed flashes of quality but will need to improve defensively and in their second half preparation.
It was a match that brought joy to the fans and valuable lessons for both teams, further highlighting the steady growth and rising competitiveness of women’s football in Rwanda.
