APR WFC HUMILIATES NYAGATARE WFC 9–0 ON MATCHDAY 17 OF THE WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

On Matchday 17 of the Women’s First Division Championship, APR WFC displayed a high level of performance by defeating Nyagatare WFC nine goals to nil in a match played in Nyagatare, characterized by determination and effort from both sides.

The match had been highly anticipated by football fans, especially since Nyagatare WFC was playing at home in front of supporters who were eager to see their team compete strongly against the Kigali based giants. However, it ended with APR WFC proving their superior level in this year’s championship.

From the referee’s opening whistle, APR WFC immediately took control of possession, showcasing quick and purposeful attacking play. It did not take long before the goals started coming.

Player Abimana opened the scoring, netting the first goal that energized the APR WFC squad. A few minutes later, she added two more goals to complete her hat-trick, scoring three goals on her own. The way she maneuvered past Nyagatare WFC’s defenders was as if the ball was under her complete command.

As if that were not enough, Zawadi also made her mark in the match by scoring four goals. Every time she approached the penalty area, it seemed certain that another goal was about to be scored. Her coordination with teammates was outstanding, making APR WFC’s attack even more formidable.

Olga and Fatina also contributed, each scoring one goal to complete the tally of nine.

Despite the difficult situation on the pitch, Nyagatare WFC continued to fight and attempted to create attacking opportunities. Their players showed resilience and refused to give up, hoping at least for a consolation goal. However, APR WFC’s defenders and goalkeeper stood firm, blocking every chance that could have resulted in a goal.

Nyagatare WFC supporters continued cheering their team until the final whistle, even as the goals kept increasing.

A 9–0 victory is not common in the championship and clearly demonstrates the level APR WFC has reached. This match served as a strong statement to all other teams competing for the league title.

On the other hand, Nyagatare WFC will need to correct their mistakes and strengthen their performance in upcoming matches in order to bounce back.

Matchday 17 will be remembered as the day APR WFC showcased extraordinary strength, scoring nine unanswered goals  a match that highlighted the continued growth and excitement of women’s football in Rwanda.
