FERWAFA AND D2 CLUBS COMMIT TO NEW REFORMS TO DEVELOP FOOTBALL IN RWANDA

 

Remera In a move aimed at strengthening the growth of football in Rwanda, the leadership of FERWAFA held discussions with Second Division (D2) clubs to explore strategies for improving the quality and competitiveness of the league. The Second Division is widely regarded as the foundation for the future of Rwandan football.

 

The President of FERWAFA, Fabrice SHEMA NGOGA, hosted leaders of D2 clubs at the federation’s headquarters in Remera. The meeting focused on addressing existing challenges within the division and establishing concrete measures to overcome them.

 

The Second Division as a Pillar of Growth

In his remarks, President Shema emphasized the crucial role of the Second Division in shaping the future of football in Rwanda.

 

He stated: “The Second Division is a strong foundation for the growth of our football. If we invest adequate effort and resources into it, we will witness tangible transformation across the entire league system.”

 

He further stressed the importance of continuous dialogue between FERWAFA and clubs to ensure sustainable cooperation built on trust and shared objectives.

 

Infrastructure and Investment Among Key Priorities

 

Key issues discussed during the meeting included:

Improving stadiums and other essential infrastructure

 

Increasing financial investment in Second Division clubs

 

Strengthening collaboration among various stakeholders

 

 

The Commissioner of Competitions, Niyitanga Désiré, highlighted that enhancing league organization and ensuring proper implementation of regulations are vital steps toward raising competition standards.

 

Secretary General Bonnie Mugabe reaffirmed FERWAFA’s commitment to working closely with clubs to build a stable league characterized by healthy and competitive rivalry.

 

A Step Toward Meaningful Change

 

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to intensify efforts in strengthening the Second Division, with the goal of making it a breeding ground for talented players who can progress to the First Division and national teams.

 

Participants agreed that unity, transparency, and collaboration are essential to elevating Rwandan football to higher levels of performance and competitiveness.

 

This initiative reflects the common vision of FERWAFA and D2 clubs: to build a high quality, sustainable football system that provides greater opportunities for Rwandan players and contributes to the overall advancement of the sport in the country.
