U17: ZAMBIA DEFEATS RWANDA, BUT FERWAFA PRESIDENT OFFERS HOPE

Rwanda’s U17 national girls’ team (Amavubi U17) lost 2-0 to Zambia in a match played in RWANDA as part of the #WWCQU17 qualifiers. The game ended without Rwanda scoring, while Zambia found the net early.

Zambia’s goals came in the opening minutes of the match, with Precious Mwewa scoring in the 6th minute, followed by Grace Phiri who added a second goal in the 19th minute. This early lead put Rwanda under pressure, and the match ended 2-0 in favor of Zambia.

Despite the result, FERWAFA leadership expressed confidence in the young players. The President of FERWAFA, Fabrice Shema, assured the team that they will continue to receive support, especially since this is their first time participating in international competitions of this level.

He reminded them that losing is not the end and encouraged them to maintain the determination and effort they have shown, particularly as they prepare for the return leg. He emphasized that the experience they are gaining from these competitions will help them grow and improve in the future.

The Amavubi U17 team still has a chance to bounce back in the second leg, where they will need to perform better in order to try and turn the situation around.
