The captain of Rayon Sports WFC, Uwase Andersene, once again proved she is a cornerstone of the team after reaching 100 appearances, as her side went on to heavily defeat AS Kigali WFC 6–0 in the first leg of the Peace Cup semi-finals.

This is a remarkable milestone for a unique player who has become a model of dedication, loyalty, and leadership within Rayon Sports WFC. A special ceremony was held on the pitch to honor her, where she was presented with a jersey bearing her name and the number 100 symbolizing her extraordinary journey with the club.

Uwase Andersene, a solid and composed defender, has consistently delivered top level performances, leading her teammates both on and off the field. Team officials described her as “the heart of Rayon Sports WFC,” emphasizing that her work ethic serves as a guiding light for other players.

As if that achievement was not enough, Rayon Sports WFC went on to display outstanding dominance by crushing AS Kigali WFC 6–0 at Nzove. It was a widely talked about match, with Rayon Sports showcasing a level of performance that was simply overwhelming.

The first goal came in the 23rd minute through Regine, opening the floodgates. Djijdji followed with two quick goals in the 39th and 43rd minutes, giving Rayon Sports a commanding 3–0 lead at halftime and leaving AS Kigali WFC visibly shaken.

In the second half, Rayon Sports maintained their intensity. Odette scored twice (in the 47th and 76th minutes), while Dorothe added another in the 70th minute, completing a stunning goal fest that left fans amazed by the team’s exceptional performance.

This victory can be described as a “strong statement” to their rivals, highlighting the significant gap between Rayon Sports WFC and AS Kigali WFC.

The result places Rayon Sports WFC firmly on the brink of reaching the final, while AS Kigali WFC faces the daunting task of producing an almost impossible comeback in the return leg.

In short, it was a historic day: Uwase Andersene made personal history, and Rayon Sports WFC made history on the pitch. All signs now point to a team determined to lift the Peace Cup and continue asserting itself as a dominant force in women’s football in Rwanda.
