Amavubi Lose to Ethiopia
Rwanda’s women’s national team, the She-Amavubi, got off to a difficult start in their quest for a place at the 2028 Olympic Games, losing 1–0 to Ethiopia in the first leg played in Rwanda.
The only goal of the match came unexpectedly in the 45+1st minute, when Uzayisenga Lydia scored an own goal, giving Ethiopia the lead going into halftime.
Despite the She-Amavubi’s efforts to find an equalizer, the match ended with Ethiopia securing the victory and leaving Rwanda with a tough task ahead!
The second leg will be played in Ethiopia on October 13, 2026, where the She-Amavubi will need to produce something special to turn the tie around and keep their Olympic dream alive.
